Another Absolute chamber upgrade is complete, this time on a 5-colour ETI labels press.
The existing chamber setup gave the operator very little scope to compensate for blade wear and provided no escape path for trapped air entering the system from the anilox cells. Both can have a significant impact on chamber performance, print consistency and day-to-day operation.
Rather than simply replacing the existing system, we engineered an upgraded chamber and loading system designed to give the operator greater control.
Greater Control as Blades Wear
At the heart of the new system is Absolute’s micro-adjust design with dial indicators.
As the doctor blade wears during operation, the system allows the operator to make precise adjustments to the chamber while keeping it parallel to the anilox. This provides greater control over the blade-to-anilox relationship and helps maintain consistent performance throughout the blade’s working life.
Combined with a new chamber design that addresses the trapped air issues experienced with the previous configuration, the result is a system engineered around more consistent, practical operation.
Carbon Fibre. Tool-Less Operation. Practical Performance.
The upgrade also brings together the benefits of Absolute’s carbon fibre construction and tool-less chamber system.
For the operator, that means a more practical chamber setup with easier adjustment and maintenance. For the press, it means improved blade and seal life, more consistent chamber performance and better overall machine output.
It’s a good example of what can be achieved when an existing press isn’t simply restored to its original standard, but engineered to move beyond it.
